This semi-autobiographical play concerns a mural by Keith Haring that was painted in an converted old convent on the Upper West Side of New York City. As the play begins, the church has decided to sell the building and the artwork is danger of being destroyed by real estate developers. The building's tenants are forced out until only one is left: Savina, who begins a legal battle to remain and to protect the mural. The legal battle and fate of the mural were featured in many publications at the time, including Newsweek magazine and NPR.

The play explores Keith Haring’s life through excerpts from a 1989 Rolling Stone interview with Haring by best-selling author David Sheff, of Beautiful Boy and the screenplay for the 2018 film. Savina's own life is explored through episodes with his psychotherapist as he struggles with the legal battle over the mural.
